Bernier Connect grows North America presence in miniature, high-reliability defense connectors with Mark Burg
Mark Burg has joined Bernier Connect as Sales Manager for the United States and Canada. He brings more than 25 years of experience in interconnection technologies: RF, power, signal, and high-speed data. His work on soldier-wearable applications shapes his view of the defense market. and the demands of robust, compact connectivity.
Why did you accept this role at Bernier Connect?
M.B: I’ve worked with connectors for more than 25 years. I’ve covered the range: RF, power, signal, and high-speed data. My time on soldier-wearable applications clearly aligned with this position. High-reliability interconnections in defense mean more robust connectors and cables, with smaller shell sizes and higher-density inserts. That’s exactly what Bernier makes.
With more than 20 years in electronic components for aerospace, defense and other industries, what do you enjoy most about working in this field ?
M.B. : The market moves constantly: new technologies, new constraints. I’m fine with that. Learning keeps me engaged. In the end, everything serves one goal: protecting soldiers’ lives.
What are the main challenges you see in North America for interconnections?
M.B.: Abundance. Too many options complicate decisions. Getting to the right solution and the right partner determines whether a program, and a company, succeeds. High reliability is Bernier’s strength. We help teams solve concrete interconnection problems.
Which strengths of Bernier matter most for the US and Canadian markets?
M.B.: Bernier already has strong results in Europe and Asia, including with prime defense contractors. The goal is straightforward: build on those successes and extend them in the United States and Canada.
What do you expect from this next phase?
M.B.: There is nowhere to go but up ! With support from HEICO, Bernier aims to stand alongside the established names in defense as a maker of miniature, high-reliability connectors.
On the personal side: what drives you day to day in business development and sales?
M.B.: I truly love everything about sales : from prospecting and networking to solving problems and closing deals. It surprises people sometimes. I’m often asked how I do it. My answer stays the same: I don’t see myself doing anything else ! I like the technical side, and I’m motivated by the relationship. I’ve often heard “wow” or “cool” when I say I sell electronics for defense. That works for me.
